After a full day on the road we arrived in Eugene, exhausted and glad to be somewhere nice. Chuck my friend from numerous psy excursions was nice enough to put us up for the night and took us to a house party where the DJ was using regular CD players (ie walkmen) and a mixer to play electro house. the next day Chuck and Christian (his girl and a friend of mine from back home), Justin and I set off in search of Couger springs, a fabled hot spring up near the cascades.
After a much needed soak in the springs we opted for free camping up the road in what turned out to be one of the most perfect spots imaginable. A long nutty night ensued before saying goodbye to chuck and christian in the morning. Justin and I stayed and decided to finally get our asses hiking!
we headed further east to Sisters Oregon, nestled in the cascades and found a suitable waterfall hunt to embark on. Backroads and scary rocky roads later, we arrived at a dusty trail leading to a waterfall that is better described as a raging river plumeting off a huge mountain. Justin decided we had to summit the mountain so when the trail ended we plodded on up a steep shaley mountain to the barren top where we saw the river before it hurls itself off the mountain.
Spectacular barely describes this one! the trip down was nerve wracking but we made it! on the way home we hopped on another trail to see the head of the mckensie river where it emerges from a mountain into the most blue pool I've ever seen! the hike there is through a majestic old growth forest that has trees dripping with green moss.
God oregon is BEAUTIFUL!
